Safety First

Last night we had some serious weather roll through.  I was down in The Valley with the dog when the thunder and black clouds started to show up.  He immediately started getting antsy to leave (which was out of character for him), so we jumped in the Jeep and headed back to Akron.  I passed A LOT of cyclists pedaling their legs off on Akron-Peninsula to beat the storm.  Another reason why the Bike Mobile would be useful.  I could load them up with their bikes and get them to their cars or wherever before the nasty stuff gets them in the open.  As someone who rides rain or shine, let me tell you, I would not want to be on my bike for that one.  The winds were incredible and there was absolutely no visibility due to the rain.  I pulled in the driveway about 10 mins before it hit my neighborhood and the Tornado Warning was announced.  Here's the view just before it started blowing:

Akron made it through unscathed, but some communities further north had some hail and strong winds.  There were reports of funnel clouds in Cuyahoga Falls and there was serious damage in downtown CFalls near Front St.  Thankfully, from what I know, no one was injured.

I herded the animals down into the basement again and kept an eye on things from the TV.  Cat 1 decided he would do what the meteorologist said and find the safest spot in the house.

Cat 1 is no dummy.  The "2nd" bath is located under
the basement stairs in the very center of the house.
He stayed there until the storm passed, but immediately returned when the next one rolled in around 11:00pm.  Sounds like we'll be getting another storm tonight too.  This Spring has so far been a little too intense for comfort.

On the bright side, The Shop is in the basement, so I have a good excuse to get some wrenching in.
