Feeling Good

Revisiting an old favorite this week, Hell on Wheels.
Further to yesterday's post, I've added some cycling films that I haven't had a chance to watch to my Netflix queue.  Titles include:

Blood, Sweat + Gears:  Racing Clean to the Tour de France (2009) about a season with Garmin-Slipstream.
Off Road to Athens (2005) about the selection of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Mountain Bike Team.
Vive Le Tour (1962) one of Louis Malle's documentaries that focuses on the Tour, from a French perspective.

Of course, I've also thrown in some old favorites too like The Triplets of Belleville and The Bicycle Thief (which is available for streaming right now).

Last night, I started re-watching Hell on Wheels (also streaming) while I was on the trainer.  I really enjoy this one.  My trainer rides are much more enjoyable when I'm watching a cycling documentary.  They're great inspiration, more so than one of those training DVDs in my opinion.

Today, we received a break in the heat and for once I didn't have to go anywhere or meet anyone, so I finally had an enjoyable ride to work.  It was glorious!  No humidity, temps in the mid 60's, light traffic for a change, and zero red lights.  I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant commute!  I almost kept going.  Its mornings like that one that keep me in love with the bike.

Tomorrow the heat will be returning and lasting for a week.  Needless to say, I'm not disappointed about missing the Sweet Corn Challenge on Sunday and the 90 degree temps.  That kind of experience is guaranteed to put a damper on my cycling mood.

And, I don't want to kill these good feelings anytime soon.
