Rainy Days Spent A'Ramblin'

It's still raining quite a bit here.  That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so windy and cold too.  It's supposed to be like that for the next ten days.  Perhaps by June the weather will be a little more enjoyable.  I certainly miss the warms weeks we had in March.  As fun as watching TV and pedaling to no where is...OK, it really isn't that fun at all.  So, while it may be too cold and wet for comfort on the bicycle, it's tolerable enough for some good old fashioned rambling.

Yesterday the dog and I went out for about a 4 mile hike around town.  When we got up to the hills, the wind was blowing so hard I thought the dog would fly off the hillside like a kite.  He is quite small, after all. While we were spared the rain for a hour and it was warmer in the sun, that wind took my breath away.  I was quite glad with the decision to forgo a ride in favor of a dog walk.  However, while it certainly didn't feel like spring, more and more trees and plants are blooming.

The View to Goldknapp is getting greener, but the trees in the hills are still bare.
Don't let that blue sky deceive you.  The weather here jumps from one thing to the next more than it does
in NE Ohio.

The undergrowth, however, is in full bloom.

The sections of pine still retain the coldness of winter.

The dog loves that we're spending so much time outside, of course.  Hiking was something of a novelty in Akron for him.  We'd maybe go a couple times a month if schedules allowed.  Normally, he'd just settle for walks around the neighborhood.  Now, he gets to go at least twice a week!  I think he gets a kick out of pulling us up some of the hills too.  But, as soon as we get home he crashes on the couch.  All this activity is doing everyone good.
