Video From Liege-Bastogne-Liege

Here is some video the Mr. graciously took for you while I was juggling the cameras.  For a larger view, I suggest viewing them on YouTube instead of directly from this post.  The weather was pretty nasty, so unfortunately the quality isn't so great.  After watching the footage of the peloton, I realized that I over estimated the time it took for them to pass by.  It was actually about 30 seconds, not 45.  Wow.

Here is the start of the race caravan as it passed by around 12:00.

While we waited, the hail came through along with the high winds.  It was quite uncomfortable to stand in; I can't imagine riding in it.

Speaking of riding, about an hour later the breakaway group blew through.

Then, finally, here comes the peloton.  I do believe the yelling is from an enthusiastic teenage boy.  The more I listen the more I wonder whether or not they were running him over...poor kid.

There you have it!  That was LBL 2012 as it was from the turn around in Bastogne.  The next race on the list, of course, is the Tour de Luxembourg starting on May 30th.  I'm hoping for a little more sun and a little less hail by then.  I imagine the guys would concur as well.  As for us, it's back to watching the races on TV again (yay for the Giro d'Italia beginning on May 5th!) and enjoying some riding ourselves.

In related news, Bicycling Magazine posted their tips for watching a race in person here.  It's a good place to start for ideas if you have a chance to watch a race sometime.  Although, I don't think I'd drop $1,000 to ride in a race car.

You could get a really nice bicycle for that!
