Now, the week we get back from the apartment hunt (about 21 days from now), the movers are coming to pack up all our stuff. All of our stuff. The stuff gets divided into storage, air shipment (2-3 weeks to Luxembourg), and sea shipment (4-6 weeks). At the end of that week, everything we own will either be headed to some plane or some boat or sitting in a storage unit. There will be just a spattering of things left with us. So, The Company is providing us with a furnished apartment so we don't have to sleep on the floor in an empty house. More than likely Cat 1 and Cat 2 won't be allowed to live in that apartment, so that means they will be crashing at my parents' house (much to Cat 1's chagrin).
This may be the craziest 49 days we've ever had.
But, it's all good. Cat 1 will survive a few weeks living with the terror that is my parents' normally sanguine American Eskimo. I'm pretty sure I will survive the same amount of time without a single bicycle. At least, I hope so. This is certainly becoming an adventure, and despite all the headaches (French is getting better), I have no doubt it will all be worth it. We still can't get over how blessed we are to have this opportunity.
At least one of us knows how to relax through all of this. |
